Tourism Tasmania's approach to social media aims to stimulate positive conversations about Tasmania across our key social media platforms of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
We primarily share user-generated content (online content posted by others) to tell Tasmania's story: images, videos and words by locals and visitors to Tasmania whose experiences celebrate our stories and raise awareness of Tasmania as a travel destination.
Tourism Tasmania's Facebook page showcases inspirational images, experiences and information from across Tasmania and is an important platform for engaging with Tasmania's visitors and advocates.
Our Instagram account displays images from across Tasmania chosen from Instagram users who tag their posts with #DiscoverTasmania and #TassieStyle.
Our consumer Twitter account shares timely news, photos, facts, events and updates about Tasmania.
Tourism Tasmania also maintains a corporate Twitter account to share news and updates relevant to Tasmania's tourism industry and its stakeholders.
How to get involved
Tourism Tasmania's social media platforms are a great way for locals, visitors and our tourism industry to share Tasmanian experiences. We look for images and captions that will celebrate travel stories from Tasmania and showcase the beauty and variety of our state; you don't have to be a professional photographer or content creator to share your stories and participate.
Facebook – use Facebook to upload your images with captioning to the Discover Tasmania Facebook Page wall and actively participate in conversations on our posts. You can also tag 'Discover Tasmania' on your public Facebook posts for them to appear on our Facebook Page wall.
Instagram – include the hashtag #DiscoverTasmania or #TassieStyle on your posts for the opportunity to be featured on the @Tasmania account.
If your image is re-posted, feel free to join the conversation by replying to comments and or providing some background on the experience.
Twitter – include the hashtag #DiscoverTasmania or #TassieStyle or tag @Tasmania with your tweets of information, interesting news or images that might be of interest to Tasmanian visitors.
Additional terms and conditions apply to the #TassieStyle hashtag for the period of 18 December 2017 to 15 April 2018 for a competition. For full terms and conditions see #TassieStyle on GoBehindTheScenery.com.au
If you are filming or photographing in Tasmania's wilderness areas, please read our Plan, Prepare and Walk Safely tips on our Discover Tasmania website to stay safe and help play a part in protecting our environment.
